WEBSITE : Development
This was the first dynamic website produced by the Design House team, and though some of its graphics are muted compared to more recent projects, it remains a favourite.
Land of the Spirits was developed by Design House for Virtual Museum Canada (VMC) on behalf of the Friends of Bonnechere Parks. This virtual exhibit features what is thought to be the largest collection of early Canadian farm depot artifacts in existence.
The virtual exhibit includes an interactive timeline illustrating the history of the land, river and people of the Little Bonnechere, an online museum of historic artifacts, curriculum-based lesson plans, and an interactive game called Dig Down, Dig Back. This illustrated game invites online archaeologists to experience a virtual excavation; extract, clean and catalogue historic artifacts, then link to the actual items within the virtual museum.
This website was developed according to the VMC Technical Standards Guide.
Feedback from VMC staff was very posititive:
"Our Editorial
Board is meeting today and tomorrow in Ottawa and I just wanted to let
you know that I will be doing a presentation of virtual exhibits and
Land of the Spirits will be one of the three I am featuring. You
produced a lovely exhibit that was executed in a very timely, conscientious
manner. I am enjoying reviewing it again in preparation for my presentation."
And more recently: “You bring so much passion and a high level of quality
to all of your projects.”
